The CD552E is the only model that features a play
button.
The CD552E and the CD540E are the only models
that feature a digital output connection.
All Desktop models feature a 3.5mm diameter stereo
mini-headphone jack, LED, volume knob, eject button, and emergency eject
hole.
All Desktop models feature a power-driven tray.
By factory default, all IDE models are configured
as Master.
All SCSI models feature a 50 pin, SCSI-2, Single-ended
type of interface, and provide active termination.
All SCSI models, by factory default, use SCSI
ID 3 and Termination enabled, except the CD50S, which uses ID 2.
The CDC68E holds 6 discs at one time in your PC,
and features 6 eject buttons, and 6 LEDs.
The CD55A and the CF506 models are the only TEAC
devices with a proprietary interface.
The CF506A is the only TEAC model with a 2 in
1 combination of a 4X CD-ROM drive, and a 3.5" floppy unit.
If your drive is not yet installed, you can identify it by its model label, which is located on the top shield cover. Please note that the suffix on the outside is included as part of the model. This example displays the label for model CD552E.
If your drive is already
installed in your PC system, you can determine the model the way it is
identified in the Windows' Device Manager. On the desktop, right-click
on My Computer, select Properties from the drop-down menu, select the
Device Manager tab from the System Properties window, double-click on
the CD-ROM section.
For Windows 2000 and XP, in the Properties screen, click on the Hardware tab, then in the Device Manager option, you can find your drive's information under the CD/DVD Drives category.
The Slim line models feature the LED, eject button,
and emergency eject button only.
The slim line of TEAC models is purchased by system integrators that design their own systems. If you are looking for a replacement drive or are thinking of adding one of these models to your system, please contact the manufacturer of your system to make sure that the system has the proper connections and is electrically and physically compatible.
